Ira Glass on Story telling
In high school writing was taught to start with a basic topic sentence to get the reader to know what your upcoming story was about. Now there is something called the “anecdote,” where it is a story structure that if the story is boring its telling that same story but not as boring. It’s a/an sequences of actions that tell the story. A better way is to tell a story for broadcast to bait the story. The point of this to tell the story but keep people on the edge thinking “Why.” These two things, anecdote and the why help keep people engaged. One thing that was also intresting is finding the story itself. Sometimes finding the story is longer than the production of the story. With that being sad failure is a big part of success, when planning a story it could take five weeks to find the story and then one week to do it. How did you make the most of those five weeks? People who are in creative work are in creative work are in it because we “have good taste.” something that was interesting was people who were in the creative field need to be honest with their self when they first joined the field their work wasn't that great but as they continue to grow and elevate their work becomes better and it's things for beginners that they need to learn before they step into the field. Beginners need to learn to find their own style and taste when they first start they just want to mock or do the thing that they have automatically seen on TV instead of being themselves.
